Wei Wai Kum Cruise Ship Terminal – “The West Coast's Only First Nations Themed Port of Call”

The Wei Wai Kum Cruise Ship Terminal, the west coast’s only First Nations themed port of call opened in June 2007. Passengers are welcomed into a First Nations village by traditional drummers, singers and dancers with an open pit fire on the beach. A unique retail marketplace at the terminal offers cruise passengers a diverse selection of BC products. There are custom services at the terminal to process passengers as they disembark and a free shuttle service is supplied by the City for passengers to navigate the community and see all the sights.

For individuals with mobility challenges the terminal provides golf carts to assist passengers to the Customs building, the tour marshalling area and to the shuttle bus stop. A scenic city on the eastern shore of Vancouver Island, Campbell River is celebrated for its natural beauty, coastal lifestyles, and outdoor opportunities. It is also a gateway to some of the most well known wilderness areas in Canada.

Strathcona Provincial Park, the first official nature reserve in British Columbia, is famous for its old-growth trees. The surrounding mountain peaks create beautiful vistas and Discovery Passage offers sightings of many species of wildlife, including the salmon that makes Campbell River so famous. While sports fishing bring many people to the area, there are other endless opportunities for adventure.

The multitudes of shore excursions include sightseeing, river rafting, ocean rapids and First Nations cultural experiences and much more. And while Campbell River is renowned for its eco-tourism, there is no lacking of shopping, dining and entertainment. The museum in Campbell River reflects the artistic, social and industrial past of northern Vancouver Island. They also showcase a time when First Nations people lived in the area before Europeans settled here.
